When I see a crack in a wall my first question is always — is this moving or has it stopped? Active cracks and historic cracks are very different problems. A lot of what looks alarming has actually been stable for decades and just needs monitoring rather than intervention.
Where there is genuine structural movement, Helifix stainless steel systems are the minimally invasive solution. Rather than opening up the wall or rebuilding sections, I drill into the mortar joints, install stainless steel helical bars and grout them in. The brickwork barely looks touched when it’s done.
